David's story
The journey to opening up Flying Wren Manual Therapy has been a long one. Back in 2015 I had an accident that I didn’t think much of while in the Philippines. When I got home family members noticed that my head would jerk violently when I was tired, and I began to notice that I had pain that just sat in the back of my mind. I went to an Osteopathic Manual Therapist (OMT) and she tested to see where my pain was coming from and worked on my legs, hips, spine, ribs, and neck. I felt better, a little bit taller as my right leg’s tibia and fibula were misaligned, my head stopped jerking, and I felt level with the ground. What excited me the most about it was that it lasted for months!
Originally I was going into Computer programming and realized none of it made sense to me anymore. I had some classes that dealt with the body and I realized that I understood that far better. So I went back to my OMT and asked how to do what she did. And so I put in the work, went to massage school, focused on difficult to reach muscles, and continuously learned more about these manual therapy techniques.
What we do
Every individual is unique so each treatment will also be unique to more effectively treat your needs.
It is Important to note that we only work within our scope of practice. While Manual therapy can help solve a lot of pain, discomfort, and other issues, we do not diagnose. We highly recommend working with your doctor as well as us. Keeping us up to date with your health history keeps both you and our clinic safe. If your situation becomes life-threatening, requires surgical attention or pharmaceutical interventions we will refer you back to your doctor. As an example: if you have blood clots moving around, those can and will be dangerous if not properly dealt with. Consult with your allopathic physician.
How to prepare for your appointment:
You'll want to make sure that you're properly hydrated as well as prepared to drink more water afterwards. Working with the body will get different systems flowing. To help with recovery we need to make sure your body is taken care of post treatment.
You will also want to come dressed in a t-shirt and athletic bottoms. (pants or shorts with an elastic waistband)
*If you cannot move very well we will do our best to work with your individual needs
Osteopathic Manual Therapy has the goal of testing the body as a whole to figure out where dysfunction is happening. With techniques ranging from visceral work, soft tissue manipulation around the spine as a whole, and Myalgia work.
Each system of the body will affect the nervous system in different ways. The trainings we've taken help us figure out what is causing the pain to fire.
Visual assessments will be made to find the dysfunction at its source, we will have you do a gait test as well as sitting tests. *Be prepared to move in treatments.
